Solar Basket Engineering Private Limited Honoured With Entrepreneurship Award 2026, Marking a New Milestone in India’s Homegrown Solar Innovation Story

Posted on September 1, 2026 By The Medium News No Comments on Solar Basket Engineering Private Limited Honoured With Entrepreneurship Award 2026, Marking a New Milestone in India’s Homegrown Solar Innovation Story

Pune, (Maharashtra) [India]: Solar Basket Engineering Pvt. Ltd.,– In a modest office in Pune, two engineers began with just ₹15,000 and a simple conviction: that solar energy could do more than generate electricity – it could power everyday life. Today, that conviction has grown into a company valued at ₹5 crore, and its journey has just been recognised on a public stage. Solar Basket Engineering Pvt. Ltd. has been honoured with the Entrepreneurship Award 2026 by the Achyut Godbole Foundation, Pune, celebrating its entrepreneurial grit and its work in building practical, homegrown solar solutions for agriculture, everyday life and infrastructure.

The award was presented at a distinguished ceremony in Pune, graced by eminent personalities including former Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court, Justice Ajit Shah. The recognition has also drawn coverage from several Marathi newspapers, adding strong independent visibility to this milestone.

Founded by Directors Nikhil Chonde and Akshay Diwakar Bamnote, Solar Basket was built on a belief that set it apart from the start – that solar energy in India needed to move beyond rooftop power generation into agriculture, infrastructure and daily living. Both engineers by training, they approached solar not as a single product category but as a canvas for practical innovation.

That approach shaped what Solar Basket would become: a diversified ‘basket’ of solar solutions spanning agriculture, lifestyle, public infrastructure and industrial applications – from decentralised agro-processing and solar drying for farmers, FPOs, SHGs and food processors, to everyday lifestyle products like Solar Diyas that make clean energy tangible in Indian homes.

The company’s momentum received a boost when it secured seed funding of ₹50 lakh from the Central Government’s Department of Science & Technology (DST), backing continued investment in technology development – strengthening an engineering-led approach that incorporates IoT-enabled features and sustained R&D, with every product built for real Indian operating conditions.

“Being recognised with the Entrepreneurship Award 2026 by the Achyut Godbole Foundation is a meaningful moment for us,” said Nikhil Chonde, Founder and Director, Solar Basket Engineering Pvt. Ltd. “It reflects years of building solar solutions that are genuinely useful – for a farmer drying produce, for a public space needing smart infrastructure, or for a household seeking sustainable products.”

Akshay Diwakar Bamnote, Founder and Director, added, “From ₹15,000 to where we stand today, our journey has been about staying close to real problems and real users. Solar energy in India has enormous untapped potential beyond conventional power generation, and we intend to keep exploring it – responsibly and at scale.”

What distinguishes Solar Basket in a growing renewable energy landscape is its consistent focus on taking ideas beyond the prototype stage into commercially deployable, field-ready solutions. Its sustainability-led approach aims not just to reduce dependence on conventional energy, but to create measurable social and economic value for the communities it serves, from smallholder farmers to public sector bodies.

As Solar Basket looks ahead, the Entrepreneurship Award 2026 serves as both validation and springboard, as the company continues to expand its solar-powered applications across agriculture, infrastructure and lifestyle segments – positioning itself as a serious, forward-looking name relevant to corporates, government and CSR bodies, investors, sustainability professionals, FPOs and environmentally conscious customers alike.

For Solar Basket, the story that began with ₹15,000 in Pune is far from finished. It is, as the company’s name suggests, a growing basket – one solar solution at a time.
